It's that time of year again. Spring seems just around the corner and with it comes new stores, restaurants and more. Myself and other bloggers regularly write about these openings and developments but rarely does anyone aggregate them.
Well, consider this Google map a solution. Here's a rundown of what is opening up in and around Columbia Heights. Let me know if you have any updates or new places to add. Best to email at theheightslife@gmail.com or send a tweet to TheHeightsLife.

Countdown to Circulator: Bus route announced
As reported last month, a Circulator bus will begin service to Columbia Heights in late-March, and now the Washington Business Journal has a preview of its route:

At only $1 per trip, the bus service is affordable and—from using its other routes—dependable as well. With a Circulator arriving every 10 minutes will you even wait for a 50-bus anymore to head south on 14th Street?

Where to drink until 4 am next week
Local blog Capital Spice did a service to all by making a handy Google map of which area bars and restaurants will be open late during Inauguration festivities next week. Those looking to stay out late in Columbia Heights, though, will only be able grab a 3:57 am drink at Rumberos. Absent from the DC ABRA's list: Wonderland, Red Rocks, The Heights, Commonwealth, and Red Derby.

DC Now Part of Google Street View
Google Maps has finally introduced street view for DC. I already found my apartment and car, but the most interesting view is that of 14th and Irving streets. Set your view in the middle of the intersection and it is a fairly recent picture, but start heading east or west on Irving and it flashes back to over a year ago. Check it out for yourself.

Coffee in Columbia Heights
For most city residents, having a local coffee joint is a must. There are those who are Starbucks loyalists no matter how much the chain raises its prices, and there are those who will only drink cup of free trade coffee at an independent shop. As retail in Columbia Heights continues to expand, so do your choices for a cup of joe. Check out the map below for where to get your caffeine fix when taking 10 minutes to make coffee at home just won't do.
