Welcome to the Neighborhood

As we've previously noted on this blog, BlockShopper.com lets you learn more than you probably should about who is moving into your 'hood.

I have no idea where they get this info so I won't repost it, but hey - some new comings and goings in CH for you (including home prices showing the impact (or lack of impact) the housing crisis has had on the neighborhood). This is the latest story, and if you scroll down there are a few more CH links.

They scour the internet for public records and post whatever info they can find. It's disturbing, but apparently legal.

Glad I didn't repost then. I would assume much of their info could be wrong, like if you google me I'm apparently a famous British stage star.

Their info is just wrong. They look at the public info and they try to figure out who the person is. I actually know the real person in one of those listings and that person does not have the job or education described. If I were the person wrongly described, I'd be angry, as it could impact them in credit reports etc. if it looks like they sold/bought a house they did not.

Sale info is public, and you can find that stuff on a number of places. But then it looks like they're just Googling people and tying that stuff to data from sites like LinkedIn and what have you... which is where I imagine the accuracy really breaks down. A good reminder to set stuff like Facebook to "friends only."
