City car owners rejoice ...

Residential street cleaning has stopped until the Spring. This week marks one of my favorite times of the year. It's a week where I don't have to move my car because of weekly street cleaning. The DC Department of Public Works announced yesterday that all residential street cleaning is suspended until the spring. Read the full release here.
Also, since tomorrow is a federal holiday, there is no parking enforcement or trash and recycling pick-up.

I know it's a pain to move your car, but street cleaning also means, well, clean streets. Not all Columbia Heights residents have cars, but we all live near the metro and several bus lines, and we all benefit from less trash in the gutters and a more beautiful neighborhood. Of course stopping for the winter makes sense, but street cleaning is a city service we should encourage and be thankful for.

I dont know Orr, I get where you are coming from on this, but I can't say I notice a drop off in the cleanliness of our neighborhood when the street cleaning stops for the winter.

Nice of them to announce it after the fact. They didn't clean our block last week, either.
