Countdown Columbia Heights: Best WSC Classes

This is actually only half a countdown. I want some help. As a WSC member, I have a few favorite classes - but I don't take them all (in fact, I really only spin), so who do you think is good?

My top three Washington Sports Club Columbia Heights classes would be...

3. Sarah's Cardio-Kickboxing on Tuesday at 7:30PM
2. Erika's Spin class at 6:30AM on Thursday
1. Claudette's Spin class at 8:15PM Tuesday or 10:00AM Sunday

I don't do yoga or pilates or step or total body conditioning or boot camp or zumba or... you get the point.

So, any more recommendations from the peanut gallery?

None of the above. I've been going to WSC religiously since they opened, and the one time I tried to take a strength training class, it was a terrible experience. I waited patiently at the door, and as soon as they opened it, a bunch of Type A gymgoers pushed past me, and by the time I found a spot in there, there were no more steps or barbels left. Ever since then, I stick to cardio 2-3x/week, and weights 3-4x/week. I avoid all classes, and generally don't interact with any of the staff, who seem to suffer from rapid turnover. What happened to Carlos, Tony, Danielle, and Heath?

Earla's indian dance class on wednesdays & saturdays is awesome

@MrT They do seem to have a lot of turnover, even trainer turnover. I see new random trainers all the time.

But if you ever want to try a class again, check out spin! Seriously Claudette is the best and I've been taking from her for months now. She hasn't gone anywhere. And she's not paying me to write this. And her 8:15PM class usually isn't crowded.

I forget her name, but the Vinyasa yoga teacher on Mondays at 12 pm is awesome. In contrast, the Pilates classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with Joy are not good.

Excuse me? Those of us who do total-body conditioning or boot camp are "the peanut gallery?" You sound like an arrogant jerk. (Oh, wait, your whole blog promises "snark." Thanks for delivering.)

@Anon a "peanut gallery" is an audience that heckles a performer. Thank YOU for delivering.

Group instruction at WSC = total joke. I have yet to take a class from an instructor that I'd consider above sub-par. I take morning and lunch time classes - why is is so hard to get an instructor who actually has a clue about teaching? I'd love to see another gym open in the area - buh by WSC please don't keep in touch.
