Countdown Columbia Heights: Best Fast Food

Sometimes you need food - fast. That's why Americans invented fast food. And here in Columbia Heights, we certainly have our share.

For the purposes of this list, I didn't count places I consider "coffee shops."

So now it's time for another COUNTDOWN COLUMBIA HEIGHTS: Best Fast Food.

5. The Uptowner Cafe - For sandwiches that don't look like they were hit by a truck (cough cough - Subway).
4. Julia's Empanadas - Baked pockets full of delicious.
3. Chipotle - Ok, so it hasn't opened yet. Whatever, even closed it beats anywhere else.
2. Five Guy's - Because you always know where the potatoes came from.
1. Pete's Apizza - It may not be the fastest, but it's by FAR the best.

Setting Pete's as the baseline, I'd argue that Pho 14 counts as fast food too. If you go in there to order takeout you'll usually get your order in 5-7 minutes, and I'd argue it's as good as anyplace on this list besides Pete's.

Pete's only counts as fast food because you can grab a slice to go, and that's pretty quick. Otherwise it's far above the Five Guys category.

See I know Pho 14 is fast, but Pete's has a big counter and cash registers up front and a big display menu. That, to me, makes a fast food place as opposed to Pho 14. Pete's certainly straddles the line - but since I frequently get it to go as I would Potbelly's, I counted it.

Without any question Taqueria Distrito Federal should be at the top of the list. Faster than Pete's plus they deliver as well. Probably the best burrito in the city and a great atmosphere. After living in Columbia Heights for five years now, Taqueria DF is still the gold standard for fast food in the area.

I don't see how you can rank Chipotle, when there is Taqueria Distrito Federal up the street.
